Kenyan eTA Requirements
Apply for Kenya eTAUnder the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, there are certain requirements that eTA applicants should meet to apply online for a Kenya eTA.
Checking through the Kenya eTA requirements can help travelers avoid complications and errors on their form.
The eTA has replaced the older Kenya eVisa. It is the only way to authorize your visit. Make sure you meet the requirements.
Entry Requirements for the Republic of Kenya
The Kenya entry requirements include documents that must be presented at border control upon arrival in Kenya.
According to the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulations, travelers are required to have the following:
- Valid passport that is valid for at least 6 months upon the date of entry to Kenya
- At least one blank page in their passport
- Evidence of an outward journey or return ticket
- Full names and addresses of Hotels/Places/Firms/Friends or relatives to be visited
- Sufficient funds
- Downloaded or Printed Copy of eTA confirmation
Kenya eTA documents
All applicants will be asked to attach the following identity documents as Kenya visa waiver requiremen:
- Scanned image of your passport (information page)
- Applicant photo — head and shoulders, as with passport photos
- Accommodation booking / signed letter from host
- Airline booking confirmation for departure
Nationals of the following countries must also provide proof of sufficient finances to support themselves while staying in Kenya, such as a bank statement:

Documents required for a Kenya tourist eTA
- There are no additional documents required for this type of Kenya eTA.
Documents required for a Kenya business eVisa
- Invitation letter for either a business visit or from company
- Copy of company registration
Documents required for family visits eTA
- Invitation letter from family
- Passport/identity card/alien card/entry permit of the host
Documents required for medical eTA
Letter from the doctor or hospital detailing the medical treatment and any other relevant information.

Additional Requirements for the Kenyan eTA
The Kenya eTA additional documents may vary depending on your reason for travel. In the application process, applicants are required to provide the reason for their trip (e.g., tourism and leisure, business, medical, etc.), and will consequently be asked to provide certain information and/or documents.
Additional information may be requested and could include:
- Proposed date of entry
- Duration of stay
- Reasons you’ve ever been denied entry to Kenya, if that is the case
- Dates and duration of previous visits to Kenya
- Whether you will be returning to your country of Residence/Domicile
- Whether you have a criminal conviction
Please note that an eTA does not guarantee the right to enter Kenya. At the point of entry, immigration officers have the authority to inquire more about your reasons for the visit.
Kenya eTA photo requirements
All applicants need to upload a passport-style photograph that meets the Kenya eTA photo requirements.
The photo guidelines should be taken into account when taking or choosing a photo for the Kenya eTA application.
Kenya Yellow Fever entry requirements
If you have recently visited or are traveling from a country where yellow fever is a health risk, you must have been vaccinated and can show proof with a certificate. The yellow fever certificate should be presented to officials at border control upon entry to Kenya.
If you are unsure if your country of origin is registered as a country where yellow fever poses a health risk, consult national health and travel information to enter Kenya.
